The Hosepipe Band
The Hosepipe Band are an electro-acoustic dance band formed in 1993, mixing British and European music and dances. Their emphasis is very much on the melody whether performing their own new compositions or traditional tunes. Their material spans Breton, English, Irish, Scottish, Scandinavian, Greek & East European tunes.
Val Woollard (recorders, flute, bagpipes, bombarde, saxophone) and Simon Haines(melodeons, hurdy-gurdy) have played together in dance bands (such as Bass Instincts and Harkelees) for over 10 years. Geoff Coombs (mandolin, mandola, electric guitar, percussion) has played in numerous folk and pub bands (such as The Churchfitters and The Schmucks). Nick Sadler (bass guitar) was with Geoff in The Schmucks.
